REAL Alaska.
Explore at your own pace — with a proven adventure-ready van, insider-curated routes, and the comfort and confidence to do Alaska right.
Limited Availability
Alaska Is Too Rare to Get Wrong.
Alaska isn't a casual getaway. It's the trip you plan for years — and the logistics alone can feel overwhelming.
The Logistics Alone Feel Overwhelming
Flights into Anchorage or Fairbanks. Rental cars that sell out. Inflated hotels. Gear decisions. National park strategy. Wildlife timing. Weather unpredictability. And it all has to come together in one short window.
And it all has to come together in one short window.
What If You Miss Something Iconic?
You're not trying to see Alaska. You're trying to experience it — fully. But without the right plan, you risk backtracking, cruise-level crowds, and a trip that doesn't live up to what you imagined.
Alaska is too vast for trial and error.
Your Window Is Too Rare to Get Wrong
This is the trip you planned for years. Real money. Real PTO. Real expectations. The pressure of getting it right is real — and it shouldn't fall entirely on you.
Relief starts with the right foundation.
A Smarter Way to Explore.
The Road to REAL Alaska was designed for families who value autonomy — but refuse chaos. Instead of juggling hotels, rental cars, and gear separately, you step into a fully equipped, adventure-ready van built for real Alaskan terrain. You remain self-directed. But you remove the risk.

"We drove into Denali at sunset with nowhere to be. That was the moment we understood Alaska."
— James & Sarah M., Denver

What Happens When You Choose to Really Go.
"We've done safaris in Kenya, temples in Cambodia, cruises through Patagonia. Nothing has come close to what Roam Wild delivered in Alaska. It wasn't just a trip — it was a shift in how we see travel. We haven't stopped talking about it."

"As a solo traveler, I was nervous. But Roam Wild made everything seamless — the orientation, the route guide, the support when I had questions. I drove from Anchorage to Denali and back entirely on my own terms. I saw bear, moose, and wolves in a single afternoon. I cried three times. I'm already planning to return."
The Okafor Family
Chicago, Illinois
"We have three kids under 10. Everyone told us we needed a 'real' vacation — a resort, a cruise. Roam Wild proved that adventure and family aren't opposites. Our kids spotted their first bear, cooked their first fish they caught, and slept under the midnight sun. A year later, they still ask when we're going back."

Designed for the Journey.
Sara built her career inside the world of luxury mountain lodges, wrangling heli-ski logistics and running travel for Alaska's cruising guests. Nick organized and led multi-day wilderness expeditions — bush planes, backpacks, and remote camps deep in Alaska's national parks. They met in Girdwood in 2013, and somewhere between structured luxury travel and immersive backcountry guiding, their own version of Alaska began to take shape.
When they weren't working, they were on the road — camping their way across the state in homebuilt trailers, and eventually in a DIY build affectionately dubbed the "Cramper Van," a lifted AWD 2003 GMC Safari that carried them from Alaska to Maine and back. They approached land travel the way a live-aboard sailor approaches the sea — self-contained, adaptable, prepared for changing weather, and never in a hurry.
What they wanted was simple: a capable, comfortable platform that could handle gravel highways, mountain passes, and sudden weather — while still feeling like home at the end of the day. Roam Wild grew from that idea.
"We didn't set out to build a rental company. We set out to give people the Alaska we fell in love with."
— Founders, Roam Wild

Founded by Alaskans
We grew up here. We've driven every road, hiked every trail, and fished every river in this guide. When you rent with us, you're getting fifteen years of lived Alaska experience.
Purpose-Built Fleet
Every van in our fleet is spec'd specifically for Alaska — not repurposed from a European camper or a mainland rental lot. AWD, high clearance, cold-weather systems, and local parts support.
Meticulous Maintenance
Our vans are serviced before and after every rental. You'll never be stranded because we skipped an oil change. We maintain everything to the standard we'd want if it were our own trip.
24/7 Alaskan Support
If something comes up — weather, a road closure, a mechanical question — you can reach someone who actually knows Alaska. Not a call center. A real person who's driven that road.
